Please note, cara is not in charge of these Ukraine collection efforts. We have created this page in order to support, and with approval from, the main organisers of a Yorkshire-based fundraising effort launched and driven by members of the local Polish community. Specifically, Magdalena Timmins who we are liaising with daily. Read more about the project in this Guardian article.

We aim to help communicate the fantastic collection efforts being led by members of Chapel Allerton Polish Centre along others, and also to provide a fundraising donations page.

Following the amazing collection which started at The Polish Centre on Sunday, we will continue to primarily communicate future updates about collections via our Instagram account (@carachapelallerton) and our Chapel Allerton Chat Facebook Group.

Taking guidance from the main organisers of this local effort, we are creating three ways to donate money:

A) Fundraising to meet the costs of the local project by The Polish Centre, including petrol for the vans driving to Poland/Ukraine, vehicle maintenance, food for the volunteer drivers, and to buy any larger specific items not yet collected, such as tents.

B) Fundraising for the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal, through which funds and resources can be allocated across the whole of Ukraine.

C) Usually, a minimum 10% of cara membership fees are donated to good causes. During March, 100% of new membership fees will be donated to our fundraising for Ukraine, split between the two collections above as needed. Think of it as donating £10 and receiving a year's cara membership for free as a Thank You.

So, you can either donate via one of the two JustGiving links, and/or make a membership payment to join cara and your full payment will be donated anyway.
